:( The two bumps are mast cell tumors and for the past couple of months we have been monitoring growth and trying some different regimens to shrink them, but it has not worked. So Mia will have another surgery on 2/20 to remove these mast cell tumors. One of them is on her eyelid (there is a pic in my gallery) and I am very worried about how it will look and function after removal. My vet says she is not looking forward to it and cautioned that removing that one may not get clean margins because there is only so much skin and tissue that can be removed from the eyelid to keep it functioning.

Our new regimen is in the holistic care section. Please keep Miss Mia in your prayers, she is currently at my feet keeping them warm for me. I can’t explain how much I love this crazy stinky girl with her bad temper and Tasmanian devil growl.

Mia

I pray that the doctor can get what is necessary to get all of the cancer. She will be in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry that she is having to go through this.

also a lump

Dora - i was so sorry to read this about Mia but commend you for your active approach to this - not to mention strength for you both because she needs it from you as much as you need to feel it. As for your tears - not a second thought should you give that. She is a family member and friend - sometimes much closer I believe than humans ever can be. I think it's a great testament to the relationship you two have that you can and DO cry. (I'm the same way and refuse to apologize for it anymore. Grace is my roomie - I'm single and it's just us two and I pretty much buckle first whenever I think there might be something wrong...then I have to continue the march and move on - for her more than me!)

May I ask - can you tell me what the lump/bump looked like? I just had a small lump - I want to say it was the size of a wart on Grace's right side of her face - near her cheek. I thought i saw a scab on it a week or so ago and attributed it to rough play with a pug that she knew, but about 5 days ago i noticed that it was above/on her skin, not underneath skin, and looked white. then a few days later, because i had put neosporin on it thinking it was an infected scab or something, i noticed that it was a little more "fleshy" colored. Needless to say, I took her to the vet yesterday and he said he could treat it with topical steroid, or i could take the safer route and he could lance it (which he did - two stiches later - ugh) and send it away to have tested. So I did that. I guess i'll find out this week. I just didn't know what to look for, and too cautious or not, i always take her to the vet when i can't identify something. Also needless to say, I am a nervous wreck right now. Grace is only 20 months old, and like the rest of you i know identify with, i can't bear the thought of something wrong with her but know i'll deal with whatever comes.

any ideas/advice from anyone?

I am so sorry. Pretty new to the board. But Yogi is my 4th boxer. He is just a baby (5-1/2) months. But I did have a guy --Duke who we rescued when I was 18. He was tied to a fence and a store where my dad delivered soda. He brought him home and we had him for 4 years until he passed. He was such a blessing as they all are.

My prayers go out to you. Try to keep positive.........take each day as it comes.

This is what mast cell tumors look like;

The best advice is to use the search engine on this website because there is lots of info here. I posted in the holistic care section a while back looking for some alternative methods on treating Mia and our new regimen is there. Good luck with your baby.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, they mean a lot.
