Hang in there, Dora. Sending healing vibes to you and Mia. In case you are interested in supplementing with salmon oil, I use it everyday for Holly and Scrapper. What I buy is called Grizzly Salmon Oil and I get it at Pet Food Express, but I think the company may have a website.
*hugs*

Dora, I am so sorry I missed this thread.

I hope so much that this scare turns out good for you and your sweet Mia. I am sending lots and lots of healing vibes.

I do not mean to talk bad about dog food but I was feeding Deeg Solid Gold products and I decided to switch to Chicken Soup. He developed a smell and got bad breath soon after the switch. It worried me so I switched him back to Solid Gold. I honestly do not know if this was good or bad sign, but it really bothered me.

I know you love your Mia so much; she is so cute in your gallary pictures. People who do not understand that kind of love are the kind of people who are missing the sweetest love ever (Like people who do not have dogs). I will watch for your updates, Dora. Please, please give Mia lots of hugs from Deeg and I.

From one BT to another, Maggie sends Mia lots of kisses and get well soon vibes.

It sounds like Mia is in good hands and we hope that in time she'll be "lump free" and back to being a true Boston Terror. Keep us posted on your little girl's progress!

Mamazookeeper,

Sounds like you have everything under control and that Mia is handling everything very well. That's good to hear.

Mia's vet appointment to remove the tumors is on Thursday the 31st. I am nervous (big suprise!). I found a third spot though at this point am not sure if it is another growth or a bug bite. I will show it to our vet on Thursday, I am sure she will know what to do with it. Next week chemo will start, I am really praying hard for my stinky girl! She is getting so spoiled off this!

I bought her a new shampoo at the pet store. My husband made fun of me so bad! It is made by Paul Mitchell and was kinda pricey. I like the fact that it was for sensitive allergy prone skin & is made with oatmeal. Bottle also states it is tested on humans (not sure my hubby appreciated this as much as I did!). Miss Mia will be looking very posh at her vet appointment! Yes I am a nut and so totally in love with her! Rocky also looks extra handsome. I bought the conditioner as well even though our pups don't really need it as they are short haired!

Thanks for all the positive vibes and healing wishes!

It sounds as if Mia is getting even MORE spoiled through her ordeal! I'm sure with a mom like you, Mia will do just fine. You are so on top of things, it's just amazing. Sending tons of vibes Mia's way, I hope she continues to do so well. And sending you hugs Dora, and Herkie sends you all slobbery kisses and beans. Please keep us updated on how everything goes. Try to remain "somewhat" calm ( I know, easier said than done) :)

I don't really know what to say to you except that I hope your dog pulls through.

One of our boxers had to be put to sleep last Thursday with mass tumors inside his rib cage. He was only 2 years old and the tumors were too big to operate on. They started to bleed and were flooding his lungs impairing his breathing and making him extremely ill. He had a cancerous lump removed from his chest in July last year.

Our first boxer had several tumors throughout his life and ever since every lump that we have felt on our dogs has terrified us. It felt so horrible cutting him up so many times. First it was his testicles then he had to get his ear flap removed and one on his leg. By the time he was 8 he had one on his back which never seemd to get any bigger so we left it as operating didn't seem fair on him anymore and we couldn't keep up with all the lumps appearing. Luckily he got a break for a few months where he was like a pup again then suddenly it got really bad. Cancer started to grow in his glans so we got tablets from the vet to slow this down so we could have him for a while longer. We knew that it wouldn't be long and as soon as he showed signs of pain he would be put to sleep. The cancer in his glans got so bad we couldn't put a collar on him anymore and it looked like a football sticking out of him but he still went on happy for a month and saw his 9th birthday thankfully. Eventually a week or so later, one day he wouldn't lie down and his breathing was very heavy (the cancer had spread throughout him and we didn't realise). We knew straight away that he needed to be put down and was, the vet always said that the dog would let us know.

Ever since then we have always said that we wouldn't let our dogs suffer, the first sign of cancer that has returned a 2nd or 3rd time we get the dog put to sleep. I couldn't watch another helpless animal being cut up like that again or them being in pain and not telling us. Wee Rufus (who got put down last week) would have been put to sleep earlier if we knew that he had tumors so severe inside him.

I am sorry for my depressing story and I hope that your dog pulls through ok. Might I suggest an xray on your dog also which will show any tumors? That is how we found out about Rufus. But please don't be a selfish owner (which i'm sure you're not) and try to hold on to your dog for ever. It isn't fair to keep cutting parts of them and it is likely that the tumors will return. You will know your self when to let them go.

All the best

Matt
