Boxer Pal
I have a 14wk old boxer, Dakota. We have had her since she was 8wks old. We take her to a park frequently to let her run around and socialize with other dogs and people. The dogs there are always bigger than she is, (labs, goldens, etc) and she plays with them, chasing, trying to act tough and keep up with them. It's really cute, and she does really really well. At home, she has been great, and she is just a big lover that always wants to play with anyone. She already knows: sit, lie down, shake, stay, come, and down. She is only having about 2-3 accidents per week. So everything is great, except for one concern. If we are out with her and she is running around and there is a dog her size, or smaller (usually, but not always) she gets this really aggressive growl (for instance, the other day it was a pug) she stood over him and just stood there...and then he got out and then she was doing the growling again..not just normal growling, it sounded really bad..it never seems like she's trying to bite, but it must be something w/dominance..I'm just wondering what to do about this, and if it is normal. She does it with males and female dogs. It's just wierd b/c she is so good w/the big dogs. I don't want her to turn into an aggressive dominating dog. If anyone has any ideas, or advice I would really appreciate it!!!

14 weeks is young and to me it sounds like just being vocal. boxers are very vocal and alot of people mistake it for growling or being aggressive. is your puppy going to puppy class. if not it might be a good idea. it helps them with socializing.
when my 2 play people must think they are killing each other.

Completely Boxer Crazy
When my neighbor got his boxer puppy, I used to think it's growl sounded aggressive. It turns out (and I should have known better) that this boxer is simply very vocal and just talks a lot more than mine does. I wouldn't worry about it.

Love that part about being vocal

That's one of my favorite things about living with a boxer. He almost is talking to me....
