Mastiffs and Boxers??

Hubby and i have long wanted a third dog....while space does not permit for now ...we are researching 'french mastiffs' (Turner and Hooch dog) and trying to get some advice on compatibility with our two boxer kids. From what i can read...they need to be puppies in order to get along with other 'stubborn breeds'...LOL>...which we definately fall into that category here in our house! I wanted to go the route of rescue again, but on the several sites i have been on....almost all indicated they would need to be 'solo' pets and almost all hated cats!! Please share experiences and or current situations....All would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry, I know nothing about the mastiff's to be honest....except that they have a long powerful tail!! after having boxers and english bulldogs my entire life, I am not sure I could see myself with a dog that had a tail:D: just seems odd to even think about...

I have a friend who has 2 french mastiffs! They are awsome. His male and female (both fixed) are very well trained and do not have a mean bone in their bodies! The size can be very intimidating and boy do they eat! Watch out or you may end up working for food ! Have you checked out any of the AKC info sites on the breed standard and characteristics? Because of size alone this is a dog I would definitely want to research...you will want to get a good reputable and ethical breeder for health and behavior reasons.

A friend of ours just got a bull mastiff and her and Ali get along great. Never had a problem out of either one of them when they are together except getting 'causing trouble together
I don't know if the bull and french's temperment vary at all, but she is a great dog. I do know that they grow like a weed though! She is only 4 months old and only about 3-4 inches shorter than Ali and he is 9 months old. Her paws are huge too! The do have a strong tail. I know our friend can't keep anything on his coffee tables and when you whacked on the leg it kinda hurts!
