Mast Cell Tumor in 3 1/2 Year Old?

How much did your vets charge you to remove these lumps on your dog. I just got a quote for $650 to remove a lump that they can not even identify if it is cancer or not. Wondering what you all paid to have it taken care of.

The entire surgery cost was $ 700.
That was for the anesthetic, biopsy, vet-tech, disposal fee, antibiotic, tumor removal, skin tag removal, etc...
I thought it was a little high...but they handed us the estimate the morning we brought Whitter in...and it had to be done...so there wasn't much to think about...and i felt that all the vets in my area would probably be charging the same...and we are very comfortable with the vet and his staff....

Wow I really like my vet. My girl (4.5 now) had a mast cell grade 1 removed from her neck 1.5 years ago and hasn't had any more. My vet did it at the time of her spay and only charged me 20 bucks onto the 65 for her spay. I had to pay for the pathology as well but I feel glad my vets don't constantly charge me a small fortune.

Well Diva (6 years old on 1 May) had her first lump removed at 9 months old! Since then I have lost count of how many lumps she has had removed and all but one have turned out to be benign. The last lump she had removed was about 6 months ago and it was on her neck and it WAS a mast cell tumour. Fortunately it has not returned and she has been lump free since.

Monty (3 years old in March), has not had a single lump removed and he rarely has to go to the vet at all. My personal opinion is that it depends on the individual dog.

Both Diva and Monty get the once over from me regularly to check for suspicious lumps and bumps. I think you have to be vigilant with breeds of dogs who are susceptible to growths and cancer etc.
