mask in winter

How ya'll,
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed if their boxer has a weaker mask in the winter. My Greta has a mask but this winter it seems to have gotten weaker. I haven't seen anything anywhere about masks and the winter. If anyone has seen this could you let me know. Thanks, I hope this is posted in the right place if not I am sorry.

There's a condition in some breeds called "snow nose" which is a lightening of pigment in the winter, though I think that's referring to the actual nose leather. I've heard many suggested nutritional reasons for it, the one that makes the most sense at a glance is lack of Vitamin D since most dogs don't get as much time in the sunshine in the winter. Other deficiencies I've heard are zinc or copper.

Thank you, I noticed it is the actual mask not the nose though. It seems to be getting smaller. I am not sure if this is because she is a puppy(6months) or what it is.She gets vitamins and good food so I am not sure what is going on with her.

She is mainly fawn with very little white. her black mask is getting lighter. It is weird. If you know of anything let me know

That is strange. The only time I actually saw a dog lose some of its black mask was a dog, years ago, that was so terrified at dog shows it literally lost its black coloring.

Some Boxers just don't have as a black a mask as others. Occasionally I will be sent photos of folks with their pet Boxers and they barely have any black around the eyes. Strange, but it does happen.

Thanks for your help. She is not scared. She is a slightly aggressive little baby with an attitude at times. She is so sweet though. Since she is not a show girl we aren't overly concerned just thought it was weird. I appreciate your help. Her mask is just getting smaller.
