I was just wondering, what are your opinons regarding feeding cooked beef bones that have the marrow in the middle. My 6 year old Molly just loves them but I'm sure if its okay to give them as a treat anymore
thanks adele

My dogs love marrow bones! Generally though, it's better to give raw bones instead of cooked ones. Don't worry about giving her a raw bone--dogs don't get sick from raw things like we can. The raw bones are much less likely to splinter. I get bones from the meat section of the grocery store, or you could go to a butcher. If you don't see any sitting out, ask for soup bones. Also, some dogs get diarrhea from the marrow so if that happens, scoop out some of it before you give her the bone.

Raw is best, and perfectly safe. :)
Cooked bones can splinter and can be very dangerous.

Not to mention that raw marrow bones, and soup bones, are way cheaper than those "marrow bones" you find at the pet store.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR ADVICE. We noticed that when molly eats raw bones she tends to hide them and eventually they start to rot and stink up the house. But I think I will defininitly try some raw bones again.

Raw Bones and definitely not cooked are great and are much cheaper from the local grocery store or butcher.

So most grocery stores have them? Do you specifically have to ask for them? Do your dogs have a favorite type? Thanks.

my girls like the beef rib bones better than marrow bones. they chew them longer too, which is good on the days i need to sleep for work!
