Hello All,

I wanted to let everyone know that the Krewe of Barkus parade Sunday the 18th was a BLAST! It was my first time attending and I will now make this an every year thing!!! I caught up with the Boxer Rescue crew of Louisiana which had a very neat float! In all between my boys and their girls, we had about six boxers in one place in the parade! There were many other Boxer owners out there as well. The GREAT thing about this was that the Rescue ladies were able to hand out a lot of flyers and generate a lot of awareness as to how to rescue a Boxer! At times along the parade route, the crowd was anywhere from 6 to 8 people deep! People were handing out doggie biscuits and water to the babies in the parade and at the end there was a party for all of the participants including free food and drink tickets. I would encourage ALL of you Boxer owners out there to take a vacation next year around that weekend, get involved with Barkus and we can have a BoxerWorld Get-Together after the parade! The local as well as the US media carry the parade highlights and it would be good exposure and PR for the Boxer breed. There have been several maulings around the New Orleans area by Pit Bulls and German Shepards (bad owners, no doubt), and there have been "breed-bans" on certain breeds of dogs. Since Boxers can be seen as a malicious-looking dog, I don't want to see some politician banning my babies around the area.

Sorry bout that...

Anyway, if you want more information about the Krewe of Barkus, surf to http://www.barkus.org

So what do YOU think?

Good Place to Meet?

I was thinking that Louisiana during Mardi Gras would be a good time to have everyone get together. We could all be in the Krewe of Barkus Parade, have a get together all day and as it is a charity event, one could probably write it off on the old taxes!?! LA is in the middle of the US and is definitely a tourist town with plenty of amenities and such. Run it up to Olly and see if he'd like to come down as well...being French, he would love it! cest si bon! We also have the Boxer Club of Louisiana and the Louisiana Chapter of Boxer Rescue as well!
