Well, we sure had a scare last night. I took Ruby over to my BIL's place. He has a grass field across from his place and Ruby likes to run in it. Well, when she was finished she came in for a drink and I noticed a bunch of stuff on her tummy. I thought she had a belly full of burrs until I noticed that she was covered in little black bugs, like small black flies or something. They were just hanging off her tummy, sucking her blood evilicon

I took her outside and brushed off her tummy, she was bitten approx 60 - 70 times. After we got home she broke out in hives all over her face, neck and parts of her body and her face was blown up like a balloon

Thank god for the boxer boards because I knew from reading on here that she could have benedryl for the allergic reaction. I phoned the vet to comfirm how much to give her (50 mg. every 6 hours for anyone that comes across this problem).

I really want to thank everyone on the boards for the wealth of information  I am completely indebted to you all. Ruby is fine today and all the hives are gone ;) She just has the reddest spottiest belly you've ever seen :(

Poor Ruby :( Glad to hear she is feeling better. Hope her tummy heals soon. It must be quite itchy.

We just took our Gibson camping for the first time this last weekend and he got eatin up something awful and he was looking pretty bad, so we rented a $200 cabin for 3 days for him and he got to stay at the Radisson with us!!! Spoiled little boy!! haha
The bites looked bad but he didn't seem to care he was having too much fun running around in the woods.
