Okay, I guess you can call the new sort of good. Bear does not have scabies. If you recall my post yesterday regarding the boxer pup my step son and his girlfriend left for me to take care of. Poor Bear is not in good shape but, it could be much worse for all.
He has demodex (sp) mange. This is not contagious to my dogs. He has an infection due to his mange being out of control. I mean this poor guy looks terrible. He is on antibotics plus Ivomec for 30 days. After 30 days they will recheck. They told me it could take up to 3 months to get it in check. Of course, I turn him back over on Sunday. I guess I need to contact this girlfriends Mother so she can keep up the meds. At least help her daughter keep up.
Okay, Bear also has ring worms and hook worms.
Now, my step son bought this dog about 3 weeks ago and the breeder said the dog had been treated for mange. I think this breeder has to be iresponsible. This pups mange I suppose could have gotten this bad but what about the worms. The doc was not too concerned about his weight. He is a bit thin from the worms.
So, Bear will be better but doc said it could be at to 3 to 4 weeks before he really gets relief.
Thanks yesterday for letting me vent. I feel better today but I am still unsettled about this whole business.
