Males or Females ????

We have always had two boxers- one male and one female.. I am curious about which is best two females and one male or one female and two males. Somebody once told me not to have two males because of the dominating tendancy. Then I read on one of the rescue sites that they won't place a female with you if you already own one.. so now I am confused.. Could someone help me out here??????:confused:

M/F pairing is generally best, M/M pairing is okay depending on the personalities of the dogs, F/F pairings can result in fights since female boxers tend to be more dominant than males - of course there are exceptions to every rule and many people have had F/F pairings with no problems and M/M pairings that were horrible. It depends on the personalities of the individual dogs more than any other criteria.

Ideally M/F pairing works out best. I have two females and have never had a problem. We HAD to get another female when we decided to get 2 because our older boxer, Bailey was rescued and we quickly learned that she HATES male dogs. Bailey had always been great around females but if she was around a male always tried to attack him. So F/F works for us but I know it doesn't work for everyone.

I have 2 females, from different litters, and while there was some "scrapping" in the puppy days, (they are both now 2.5 years) they get along amazing, and never fight. The bigger one of the 2 (74 pounds vs. 65 pounds) is definitely the "alpha", but they both share and play alike and are wonderful together.
