I have a male and a female and they are both snugglebugs... The only difference I noticed was that it took my boy longer to "grow up".... You know get protective and bark and not chew EVERYTHING in his path..:)
But I'm not sure if that has to do with the gender or with the fact that he didn't have to grow up. Both of his mommy's have always been there...:p

i had males in the past(several breed, but not boxer)and now i have female boxer .I notice that male is more independent, more hard to handling(in or out of house),more energetic than female. My female is very protective, more affectionate ,more close to us than my previous dogs,
BUT my female is BOXER and i think that is far and away.
For me anyway Boxer and (i think)female.
Avra is full of clowicon and angelicon and lovicon

and have also heard that males are more drawn to female owners and females are more affectionate with male owners.-----------------------------------------------

The dog, male or female will be most drawn to the alph of the family. Who ever is the most dominate. There may be some other cases where this might not always be true, but in most cases it is. I have two females and they follow me every where I go and I also am the one who enforces the training in our house.

I think alot has to do with who takes care of the dog. For example.. I walk her, feed her, clip her toenails, brush her teeth, play with her, and shower her with love. My husband plays with her(but not as much as me).She is totally my dog. She follows me everywhere. She is super protective of me. She does love to cuddle and give doggy kisses to anyone she can. But she still loves me best.

Male or Female

I NEVER wanted a male dog of any kind, always had females growing up. Kasha is our 5 year old female and was a lover as a pup. She got very independent as she grew up when she decided her "job" was to protect the house. She is an excellent pet and guard dog. She has gotten more aggresive as she's gotten older. It seems to grow each year. We always keep one eye on her when she's in the yard. My husband wanted a "big male" to add to the family. Well, this "big male" may be growing big but he is the biggest "muffin" (only way to explain it) I have ever met. His "job" is to be as close to you as humanly possible. He has earned the nickname Worm because he likes to worm his way under your arm or leg - just enough to make you uncomfortable and just enough for him to know if you get up and leave!
You'll be happy with whatever you decide - male for female. I always thought male dogs were more aggresive and stand offish. My experience has proved me wrong. Good luck.

Affection has more to do with the personality, than gender. And age also can change a dog's behavior. Butch was always very affectionate, but during his last year, he became even more lovey/close, if possible.

All Boxers are loving creatures - it's just part of the breed.
