Hi all,
i was just wondering the difference in behavour between
males and females?
Is there any difference, or is it all about the way they have
been brought up?
Apart from behavour, what are the other differences?

All advice is great, as our breeders pups arn't born yet, and we don't
know what would suit us better.

I think they are about the same. I have both and they both have very different personalities but that is individual to each dog, not the sex of the dog. To me, it is all personal preference.

I know quite a few people who prefer males so they don't have to worry about them getting pregnant but that is no excuse whatsoever, they should be altered either way. That is just how ignorant some people are.

I think the most important thing is to get a pup from a reputable breeder who does all appropriate testing. They usually do a good job of testing the pup and placing it in the correct type of home environment.

I haven't seen any difference between male/female other than the obvious one. It is more a personality thing to me.

I have heard repeatedly that males are cuddlier and easier going. I only have one male who is a big sweetie but I also have two other females who are big marshmellows. I have 3 VERY strong minded females. I guess in my experience females are slightly smarter and harder to raise. More independent. Again I realize I am over generalizing.

We have one male. our neighbor next door to us have a female that is 2 years older. Since both of our children (neighbor and ours) are the same age (They have a son that is 2 months younger than ours and a daughter that a month older than ours,) the kids are constantly playing with each other back and forth. I had heard that 2 females may be territorial at times so we were glad when Rocky picked us out that he was a male. Now the fur kids play back and forth all the time too. I dont think there is much difference except in the personality. Makes me kinda wonder what it would be like if we had picked the female my niece wanted.

My girlfriend wants a female, and i think i want a male,
we have first pick of the litter, so i guess we will
choose when we get there.
We know what colour and markings we want so time will tell.

 It usually doesn't work that way but I guess you will be picking them when they are too young to really pick you. In my experience, the pup usually picks you and you end up with some color/markings/sex completely different than planned. Funny how life works...

Max is a sweety, Riley is the hoodlum. Love them both to pieces and they give us joy in their own ways.

When we went to see Max (pick of the litter) we was positive we were getting a fawn female. Well, look at my gallery. Max is far from that. Male brindle. DH picked Max out. Now with Riley we knew the only thing was a female for us. I was alone when I picked Riley. In her litter there was only fawns and white female. Narrowed it down for me. I love the white boxers but when I saw her little face it was over for me.

Totally agree. We were originally looking at a female that my niece kept bringing by the house for several weeks. Before I gave in to the DH and kids I wanted to at least see the other pups. They were 10 weeks old and starting to show their own personality. Well our Rocky kept following me around the whole time all the other pups played. He would not leave my side at all. So I guess he knew what he was doing and to this day he fits in our family so perfectly.

Best advice I could tell you is to watch the other pups and their personality. If it is a reputable breeder they won't be parting their pups too soon so see which ones respond to you and what you like. As far as thier markings and so forth you will love whatever you bring home as long as your personalities go well together. Most people will tell you that thier pups knew exactly what they were doing when they picked out thier human. I know ours did!
