Boxer Pal
Hi, everyone, here I am Kazjimmy, I have build up a little dog house for my Boxer and have a HS student who get off school at 1:00 walking my dog since 1:30-2:30 and he likes it. of course I offer a little salary to him. So far so good.

I just read a book--Raw Meaty Bones: Promote Health by Tom Lonsdale

He suggest to feed your dog raw food rather than dog food from"petco". here is some ref# www.rawmeatybones.com

When I first visit this web, I can not believe it and now still can not believe. What do you guys say?

Plz, feel free to post any of your points. thank you.

What's so hard to believe? That dogs do better when fed on real food than the dry extruded pellets of waste from the human food and cosmetics industries (aka kibble)? That feeding them the meat they've spent 15 million years (or so) of evolution adapting to thrive on, is better than a diet invented a few short decades ago and comprised in vast majority of grains (that their digestive systems aren't designed for)?

LOL - I don't find it difficult to believe at all ;)

Here's a more interesting question for you: do you ever wonder why there isn't an equivalent "all-in-one" dehydrated food for people? The only things that come close to it (sports and diet formulas) carry with them stern warnings that they're for supplemental or limited duration only - i.e. are not adequate to be sole diet for more than a matter of weeks.

And if someone ever did manage to come up with one, would you believe it was healthier for you than eating good quality, real, natural, food? In any way other than convenience, that is ;) I wouldn't. And I don't believe it for my pets either.

A raw natural diet is what dogs were meant to eat. A lot of people here feed the raw diet and I think our dogs are healthier for it. Tom Lonsdale is a good resource.

After reading the book, you have doubts??
I wasn't always a RAW feeder. I started my dog on kibble, and not very good quality kibble when we brought her home. After finding this site and learning more about quality foods, I switched her to a high-quality kibble but still didn't feel like I was feeding the best food for my dog. Personally, I wouldn't want to eat nothing but hard little pellets for my whole life... We made the switch to RAW at the beginning of the year, and the improvements in her health and appearance are phenominal. She used to have a raw, rough patch on her tummy from her spay surgery where the skin tightened into scar tissue. It would bleed quite often, and look inflamed all the time. She also had sores between her toes, and gunk in her eyes and ears. This was when we were using the high-quality kibble also. Within weeks of switching to RAW, she was like a new dog. No more sores anywhere, and a nice smooth tummy. No more eye boogers, or yucky ears. Her coat is absolutely amazing, so much so that we get stopped all the time when we're out and asked what we feed because she just looks so great! After feeding the RAW diet for a bit, I became a HUGE advocate of RAW feeding, and it led me to find my calling as a canine nutritionist. Dr Tom Lonsdale is absolutely 100% accurate in every aspect and I challenge every pet owner to read his book!
