We had both Ttakas and Bronte 'done' at the same time back in November '97 when they were 6 months old. Ttakas recovered alot faster than Bronte because his surgery was not as involved as hers and she had been sedated longer than he had been. I had the 'Elizabethan collar' on both of them that night when they were crated - we could hear Ttakas crashing about but the next morning we found that Bronte had worked her collar off and had a very comfortable night!!
Needless to say Ttakas was ready for his usual game of rough and tumble at that age, but his sister had to be watched carefully and I was sure she would rip the stitches - it was hard to control her because she too wanted to play. They both survived very well with no serious consequences !!! I'm sure Maggie has recovered completely by now Dan, and is back to normal - whatever that may be with a Boxer!!!!

I hope all went well with Maggie. I'm glad I don't live in New York, my vet charged me $35 to spay my beagle, and Boomer will be getting neutered this week, and it will cost a little more($60)because of the extra anestetic required for a large dog. This price includes after care too. Best of luck to Maggie. Don't worry Dan, it's really for the best.

I hope Maggie is doing well - I'm sure she came through with flying colors. Just a cautionary note (and not to be too disgusting or raise any needless worries), just watch those stitches very well and make sure she's not licking them. When we had our malamute spayed, we didn't get one of those dorky collars for her. Poor thing ended up chewing the stitches out after 4 days and had to be rushed to the Pet911 center for emergency surgery (to literally put everything back in!). I felt absolutely horrible and Jenna (the mal) was terrified. Poor thing even blew out her winter coat over night from the shock of it. We have since always used the collars no matter how silly they look.

Hugs to Maggie. :)
