Maggie & a Laser Pointer

Maggie's Mommy

Super Boxer
My family used to have fun with driving the cats insane with a laser pointer, but the family has discovered that a Boxer pup is more fun to watch while the pup chases the red dot of a laser pointer. Each family member knows not to point the light directly into the pets eyes, and are very cautious when playing "chase the dot" with the pup and cats.

This evening, my oldest step-son thought it would be fun to play with Maggie and a laser pointer. Maggie went bonkers - barking, chasing the light, running as fast as she could to catch the little bouncing "dot." Maggie forgets that she slides on the vinyl floors like it was an ice skating rink, and slides into everything while chasing the dot. I thought I'd get into the act and play with her, also. I took the laser pointer and shined the light into her water dish. She tried to get the dot by drinking the water. Then, I shined the light into her food dish, and she tried to eat the light. She's such a silly girl. foolicon

  I need to get me one of those laser pointers. I have heard many members talk about playing with them. Sounds funny.

We had a discussion before about the laser pointer and boxers. They all seem to love playing with it. My Tina also chased it like a cat
Buut please be careful and never shine the laser pointer to the eyes because it may cause a great demage.

We play with a laser pointer, too. It is a blast! We play inside on rainy days and it seems to relieve some of that pent-up energy!! It is fun outside, too, on really dark nights! We always "bring" the "dot" out from a vent on the ceiling and "put it back" at the same place. So, the girls are convinced that the vent is where the dot "lives" and sometimes we catch one of them sitting on the floor under that vent looking at it waiting for the dot to come out and play. It is too cute.

Of course - never in the eyes . . . ;)

Since I don't have a fence and all the leash laws, I take T-bone out back and she'll chase it untill she can't run anymore. It is the best! I try to break it up into two sessions other wise it might be too much exersize all at once. She knows where it is coming from too so every time I turn it off she comes running over and looks at me like "Well?" I can take her for mile walks with out a leash and she'll stay right by my side as long as she knows I have the laser.

At first I didn't think it was a good idea. After I'd turn it off, when she was a pup, she would stand and look around the area where it was last for at least a half hour, just waiting for it to show up again. But then she realized where it was coming from and it was on ever since.

My Dobe loves it too, but like all the bones and toys they fight over the little red dot, so I have to take them out seperate.

If your scared of using the laser you can use a normal flash light too.! It won't hurt their eyes. Sounds like fun to me.
