Boxer Booster
Hi everyone,
As many of you know our rescue Sawyer Brown was diagnosed with Lymphoma in September of 2006. We had adopted him in January and just celebrated his 9th birthday in August when he became ill. Since then, we have gone through several vets and found a great vet at Acoaxet. She has been a special angel for every question for our Sawyer Boy. He was doing great and the lumps in his chest disappeared after every treatment only to return again 4 or 5 weeks down the road. Everytime he fought back. He gained weight like a champ (without the steriods!) and was up to a whopping 85 pounds and it was all muscle no fat. Last week he stopped eating, his lymph nodes in his throat blew up. His little nub stopped wagging, he lost control of his bowels several times. We brought him to the vet and she was totally shocked. He had boxer puppies at the vets coming up to him and he did nothing (and my boy usually has to stay outside or they clear the waiting room because he does not get along with other dogs at all). He kept giving us "the look". We agreed that we were at the end of the road and took him home for the weekend to say goodbye and made an appointment to euthanize him on Tuesday. I was spoon feeding him chicken broth and white rice. Monday night when we all got home we had the surprise of our life. Sawyers lumps were down! He was a starvin marvin and ate 3 packages of 5 minute white rice, chicken broth, and was begging for more. He kicked our female's butt to reestablish his dominance, did the boxer wiggle for us and we were sobbing with relief. We called his vet and she was amazed at the turn around and I can honestly say that's the first time that I think I heard a vet crying.
Then yesterday, the nodes in his throat blew up again. At 2:00am this morning something made me wake up and I went to let Sawyer out to pee. He went out and seemed fine but when he came back in he was just walking toward me when he just fell over onto his side like a ton of bricks. He just laid there and didn't even try to get up. I couldn't get him up at first. I went and got my husband when I did get him up and it happenned two more times. Then he was fine. I stayed up the rest of the night with him and he is acting like nothing happenned. He seems fine. Has anyone seen this before??
