I'm fairly new to boxerworld and have been reading your thread about Taylor. I'm so sorry and wish you all the best in your fight to prolong his quality of life. Also, condolences to all those who have written about losing boxers to cancer. I can't imagine losing
either of my babies. They are both young yet (2 yrs and 9 mos) so
are healthy. I'm curious though. How do they determine lymphoma? Through a blood test? My Kianna had a tumor but it turned out to be a fatty tumor, benign.

I'll be praying for your Taylor.

Thanks to all of you who wished us well about Demi's Lymphoma. Hope that Taylor is doing better - let us know. Well the prednisone is making a difference but I know that we will have to keep upping the dose for it to have an effect on the cancer. The side effects of the prednisone of drinking lots and increased appetite are great. She is back to herself most of the time except for the panting from the prednisone. I can tell the difference between panting due to a hard time breathing or just from the predisone easily. Someone asked how they check for the Lymphoma. I do not know about the rest of you but our vet took and ultrasound found the mass and then did an ultrasound guided aspiration of the mass and sent it into the lab where they discovered the lymphoma cells. I have my medical terminology so it was easy for me to understand exactly what this mass is about - I new right away that this was going to be a matter of time before we lose our baby. She looks great right now also because my bestfriend who is a groomer painted both of my female boxers nails hot pink (had a good laugh about that). Anyway we are just taking it day by day, watching her diet (she now gets fed 3-4 times a day), giving her prednisone, flaxseed oil and salmon oil. All we can do is love her and not let her suffer.

Take Care

Maureen

So sorry to hear about the bad news. I guess at a certain time you will have to look for the quality of life for Taylor. It's so hard. My thoughts are with you.
