I just happened to be watching out the window when I saw Lucy dart into some thick bushes, then Fred bolted in there too. I knew something had to be up, and sure enough, out comes Fred with a wiggly furry package in his mouth. At first I thought it was another skunk and I freaked. I grabbed a broom and like a crazy lady ran out there hollering. Lucy listened and ran to the house when I commanded. My 18 month old Fred however was another story. He dropped the baby raccoon when I commanded, but was so excited by this new toy he would not obey any other commands! He wanted to play with this new interactive toy so bad he was just jumping around like a crazy boy. The raccoon could not move well as I believe it may have been injured from falling out of the tree and was hissing like crazy. I finally got Fred to run to the house after about 5 minutes of craziness. I left the coon to see if the mama would come down for it, she did not, so DH collected the little guy and set him nearby but outside our fence. He was gone this morning. I will have to keep a look out for the pissed off mama, cause I'm sure Fred will want to play with her too!

Oh Fred don't you know that these types of interactive toys are a nonoicon .
At least he dropped it when you told him to.....so good boy for that. Good girl Miss Lucy for coming as soon as Mommy started yelling like a crazy lady.

OMG, that is hillarious! Interactive toys- I never thought of that one cool2icon

I can say that because I have played the same game with opposums... Smoke found a nest of them at the house we lived at before we moved and had about 4 of them strewn around the backyard... I didn't catch him in the act, but he drug 1 up on the porch and I freaked when I realized what it was. Hubby had to collect them as well... I can't remember if the mom came back or not, I'm sure if she did she was fuming!

Scooter had one of those "interactive toys" also! He likes to sit in the car while I do yard work. Well when it was time to go in, what do I find in the front seat of the car? Scooter and a huge racoon curled up sleeping! Two sleepy pairs of eyes looked at me as if to say, "hey, we were sleeping!" Lucky for me Scooter came readily when I showed him a treat. I left the car door open, and Scooter's friend ambled off very slowly!

Harley found an interactive toy just yesterday morning. I though it was a cat when I saw it behind the bush, but when I got closer I realized it was too big. It was a fox!

Fred and Lucy have caught 3 more!

Scooter and a huge raccoon curled up sleeping!

 Yikes!

Yesterday Fred caught a second baby racoon and paraded around the backyard with him. He almost got in the house with him too! We decided that the mama raccoon has been hit by a car down the road from us and the little ones are on their own. DH took the 2 babies out to the forest preserve. Today when I got home from work I let the dogs out and each dog caught one! I was going nuts! How many of these can there be? We searched all over yesterday and couldn't find any more. I just hate raccoons! Those little hands freak me out! Hopefully this is the last of them. Been taking Fred out on leash for time being just in case cause he is a nut. Lucy goes a little nuts, but she will listen.

Ruby loves 'interactive' toys, her problem is catching them :)
Our weekend walks when she has been a very good girl all week involve a diversion to a field with a lot of rabbits in it. She loves chasing them and gets very full of herself when we leave, she has yet to catch one (shes got no chance they are far to fast and the gorse bushes they live in allow them to get away where as Ruby just crashes into them) however i now know she can jump four feet from standing as she does this regularly to punce on the patch of grass she thinks the rabbit is in and to get over the bush she is on the wrong side of.
All in all I am dying to get it on film because it is sooo funny. Not sure what she'll think if she ever manages to catch one

We have several families of bunnies under the shed, which half of is in their fenced in area. Buster will spend 30-45 mins running from side to side trying to catch one. He has a mote now dug in the yard showing his path of obsession. This weekend I have to lay stone hoping it will deter him from obsessing.

Lily has chased them down and pinned them against the bottom part of the fence. I thought she would kill them! She just nose bumps them silly then gives up when they don't box back. Such a silly Lily.
