My boxer's lower teeth are virtually gone. They were small to begin with but have sunken into the lower gums. They have been like this for some time now. Recently I asked the vet to take a look (through the muzzle) and she said she had seen a lot of boxers like this and did not think it was a big deal. The gums may be inflamed because the teeth are still there. I don't notice anything major going on but not sure if I am just missing something. He doesn't act like it bothers him. Anyone thoughts or comments on what may be going on?

Thanks

Laser, My boy Gunther had the same condition, only he had tiny little nubbs for his bottom four (originally normal). I asked the vet as well and he didn't seemed concerned and it never bothered Gunther in the least. I don't think it's a problem unless his gums are noticeably inflamed or if it seems to bother him. I think a lot of it is a normal wear process. Our oldest is about to be 10 and his teeth (the tiny ones in front on the lower jaw) are barely visible. He chews right on and probably one day (depending on how his teeth wear) we may have to do some food softening. But for now he is still good to go.
