DIESELS DAD

Boxer Pal
Hi, This is my first post I hope i'm doing this correctly.
Anyway I have a 5 month old pup, who has been such a joy. He is very easy to train, he knows where to potty, loves to exercise and stays right by my side off the leash when we go hiking. The only problem is whenever someone reaches down to pet him, he gets so excited that he pees on them and his first reaction is to open his mouth and start biting. It does not matter if I grab his lip or press down on his tounge to dicipline him, as soon as I let go he's back at it.
I make him sit and relax before someone approaches but he just loves to bite. He is getting very large quickly and eventhough I doesn't really hurt(like the baby teeth do) I can't trust him around kids and some adults think he's being aggressive.
Any advise would help a lot.

Don't Accept

Sounds like Trixie and Diesel are about the same age. She'll be six months in a few weeks. I had the biting problem (and still do a little). I learned I have to show Trixie there is acceptable and unacceptable behavior. If she bites or mouths, then I have to remove her from whatever reward is reinforcing that. In your case, it seems the reward is seeing people so perhaps having those people stand up and walk away and ignoring him would be effective.

With Trixie, when she play bites or mouths I have to stand up and walk away. It's to the point now that she really only bites on accident. I just say, NO BITE and she stops and even LICKS the place she just nipped as if to apologize.

A behavior I might be concerned about is the peeing on people. From anything I've read that's a sign of an overly submissive dog. Perhaps obedience training or something like that would help him build up some confidence.

Good luck!
