Louie the lovebird heading to the bridge

I feel so helpless. My daughter has/had a lovebird and this morning she told me he was on the bottom of the cage sitting there. Being the crazy person I am, I started calling Avian vets all over the city trying to find one that would see him. I had him all huddled up in my shirt to keep him warm and drove him to the first one who had an opening. 2 hours later they called to say that he had passed. I'm heartbroken. My dogs will be heartbroken too. They used to sit by his cage and listen to him with their ears perked and heads tilting.

He was a sweet boy and I'm sure his wings are open now heading to the bridge.
sorry I know it's sad but I had to get it out. My daughter is at class so she has no idea he's gone.

It's going to be tough telling your daughter. Will the vet let you pick up Louie and lay him to rest? It might be closure for her.

So sorry for your loss. It's amazing what a huge impact such a little feathered thing can make on your life, isn't it? I remember when I lost my first bird (a parakeet)-I must have cried for a week straight.
