Hi!

I will try to keep this short. This morning after I let my 3 year old male outside I noticed a large bump near his tail. Thinking it was probably a typical boxer bite/sting I gave him a minimum dose of the childrens benadryl and went on with our plan for the day wich included a bath and blowing leaves off the property, in that order. He has a few (nothing major) allergies so I gave him the natural tea tree oil and aloe shampoo. Not long after (an hour?) He had a fe more bumps. As the day went on (12 hours later!) we gave him another minimum dose of benadryl and he just keeps getting worse with the bumps but is fine with breathing and all. Can a sting/bite result in these bumps? I know it was evile timing with the bath and all, but I don't want my baby to be any more miserable than he is now!

Any insight?

Thanks!

I think other than going to the vet you are doing about all you can. My Bubbie had a bee sting last summer and my vet said to give him 2 of the 25mg softgels every 4 hours. At the time he weighed about 50 pounds. Not sure how this compares to the amount you are giving your dog, but it's possible he needs a stronger dose. You could do a search on here and see what others are giving. There are lots of posts concerning hives. Good luck!

Max is allergic to something but we don't know what. He will break out in hives and lick and lick. We tried everything. Benedryl just didn't seem to do the trick. So, the day after the first time he broke out we took him to the vet. He has gotten an allergy shot every month.

You can always tell when the month is about up cause he starts to break out again. Yesterday he had another one but his hives were not as bad as they usually are. So, we are hoping it is the last one for the winter is coming.

Your baby could have gotten stung or it could be he is allergic to something in the yard. If it doesn't get better I would take him to the vet. Let us know how he is doing.

My vet always has me keep prednisone on hand for allergic reactions and hives. I try to reduce them with benedryl first and when/if that doesn't work i always have the steriods to fall back on.
