My heart breaks for your loss. I always look to God when awful things happen.. some how and in time I feel he lays his hand on us to heal.
I have given my boxer baby a real big hug because I can't imagine how I will deal when she goes. Best Friend, Best Listener, Best Licker. You are in my prayers.

With tears running down my cheeks I smile on the thought of you wearing Buster's ID tags to comfort you. I hope it helps ease your pain. Do give yourself some time to grieve. Your baby is looking down on you and I'm sure he understands.

Teresa, I love the idea of you wearing Buster's tags. I keep Mugzy's collar in 2 ziplock bags (I do not want the scent to dissapate)in a cabinet in my kitchen. I often get it out and take a sniff...it really comforts me to smell his familiar scent. One day, I let Cooper sniff the bag too and my husband saw me and said that Cooper probably said to himself, "So that's that guys collar who's around here all the time!" Because we like to think Mugzy is still always around. He will be gone two years soon and I still miss him a lot. Cooper definately brought the Boxer joy back into our lives.

My sympathies also to you and your family. I lost Hoss 2 weeks ago to cancer. The tears still come to my eyes, but I tell myself that there is nothing bad that can ever get to him again, and that helps me put my mind at ease.
Love and prayers to you,
~Marlin

I just returned home and checked the board. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost mine at 6 and a half last year and I really know how you feel at loosing them at such a young age. My prayers will be with you. I'm so sorry...

Words can not express the pain I feel for you regarding your loss. Just thinking about that day when I lose one of my guys makes me sick to my stomach. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family in your time of healing. Just remember the joy that he gave you without asking for anything in return.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I'm new to the board, and your post was one of the first I read. It made me cry, and made me want to rush home from work and go hug my Boomer. You're so right about Boxers being special. Mine is only 6 months old, but he is so special to me, that I don't know what I'd do without him. I think it's very sweet of you to wear his dog tags, and I also think it's a good idea you have about getting a puppy. Have you ever read any of James Herriot's books ( All creatures Great and Small, The Lord God Made Them All, Dog Stories, Cat Stories, etc.)? He was a famous vet in England. Well, one thing he said in practically every book (if not all his books) is that when you suffer the loss of a beloved pet, go out and get another one. It's no insult to your dog's memory to get another dog right away. It will help you channel your grief into something positive. Think about it. I will pray for you.
Love,
Julie
