Hello everyone. I have a female boxer who we rescued from a foreclosed house about 3 years ago. When we got her she was skinny & scared. we've since gotten her at a good weight & shes part of the family. Still a tad skittish & afraid of the rain but overall great. we recently moved into a new home & she seems to be having a hard time adjusting & now she is not eating her dry food anymore so we switched to wet, she is drastically losing weight, has like a hairball cough at times & seems like its hard to breath!!! I don't know what to do & don't have the $$$ to go to the vet. I sit on the floor with her & hold her bowl to feed her. she looks so sad any advice is welcome please. Thank You.

It's hard sometimes when finances stop us from taking care of our babies the way we would like. Sometimes, in my part of the country, they will have special clinics for pet owners with limited means. You could try asking around and seeing if there was something like that available in your area. Dogs are usually pretty stoic, so anytime an animal won't eat and seems to be having trouble breathing, and looks sad, it's something that you need to try to have checked out, in case she's in pain.

Call your local Humane Society or SPCA and see if they have a clinic that can help you. Your poor girl has been through a lot and a new move can upset any dog. Try feeding some boiled chicken and rice and see if that gets her interested in eating.

Have You Tried a Fundraiser or Grant

There are fundraiser sites on which you could post your need. It helps to get friends and family on board to kick it off. There are also foundations where you can apply online to get help with vet bills. A dog off food must be seen promptly.
