Losing hair after I switched to canidae?

Hi everyone, I'm a proud owner of a awesome 14 month boxer named sabre.
I was feeding him Nutrience large breed puppy food (dry) and once browsing threw the forums I noticed a majority of boxer owners feed them canidae. Did some research on it and noticed it was a much better food (on paper anyways) Now his coat isn't as shinny and he is losing his hair. Not in patches though, just all over in single strands. Do you think its from the switch? and should I switch back? or I thought of trying Wellness?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Well Canidae is a great food but not all dogs do well on it. Mine did well but I have read of others who didn't. Even some of the good foods aren't the best for every dog. Perhaps you can check the Whold Dog Journal list or comparison shop ingredients yourself and try a different high quality food in your area. It may be that Canidae just doesn't agree with Sabre. Perhaps your dog is also shedding.
Boxers do have seasons where they shed. Mine do so mostly in spring (now) as it becomes hotter, and again in August when it becomes unbearably hotter.

Ya I have been thinking about him shedding cause of the season but I thought I would ask if anyone has any problems like this because of the food they feed them. Other then that he really likes canidae but has his moments when he wants to eat it. I'm going to try mixing plain non-fat yogurt and see if that will help his eating habits. I also heard about mixing milk in with his food? Anyone else try this and if so what kind of milk?

Canidae or Wellness?

Hi, I also have been feeding my 11 mo old Nutrience, but having further investagated don't like that the second ingred is corn (filler), I'm trying to decide if I'm going to switch to Wellness Super 5 Mix or Canidae. Wellness is a little better priced here, and there seems to be only one store that I've found that carries both. Does anyone have any advice on which is the better choice? I want what is healthiest for my angel to live the longest fullest life possible. (as do we all I'm sure!)

Both are excellent choices. I've considered them as part of Diego's rotation (just started last fall).

The differences that I've noticed and important to me are:

Wellness has more "stuff" in it - veggies and fruit, a single source protein and is baked rather than extruded.

Canidae has 2 protein sources - chicken & turkey (easy transition from Innova), has some herbs, better priced and is sold at my health food store as well as the pet store.

What I've found most helpful is that my local pet stores have little samples of foods they stock. I'd use the kibble as treats at first to see if 1) Diego liked it and 2) see if there's any negative reaction.

Is this option available to you? Have you already decided?

Does he have bald patches due to the shedding?
I am thinking it could be seasonal shedding too!
As for yogurt or milk. Fat- freeYougurt only. Do not mix milk in his food it will give him the runs:( yuck!
