Hi Tyson is 5 mos and has had what I call soft serve BM. Mostly in the morning he will squat about 4-5 times. He has had this for a while off and on. The vet said try him on a bland diet of chicken, white rice and some cottage cheese for a few days and see how it works. Any other suggestions. He may have food allergies, but I'm not sure. Could it be the kibble. He is on Canidae all lif stages. He has some treats thought the day, but not not that much. Treats are milk bones, some beef chewy things and some cherrios

When mine have had a little loose stool would give them a tbsp of canned 100% pumpkin...it tends to firm them up...there are a lot of threads here if do a search that will tell you the same...maybe cut back on the treats too until things settle

If the food/treats are the same yet this problem is "on & off" it shouldn't be a food allergy. If an allergy is present and the allergen is always there the results should be constant.

I would forgo the cottage cheese (for now) since some dogs are lactose intolerant and loose stools/diarrhea are typically the result.....unless when feeding this combo with the chicken/rice the problem corrected itself?

I would take away the easiest thing first.....all treats and anything else edible that isn't his dog food. If the problem persists after a week or so of this change then I would try to introduce a new food OR look into how much you are feeding. Sometimes too much food at one sitting can cause loose stools too.
Since it is hard for a lot of us NOT to give out treats during the day I would offer a few pieces of his regular kibble during those times. They really just like that they are getting "something" and that their parents are giving it to them!

Have you had a fecal test done?
