Boxer Pal
I am currently looking for a male boxer. I would prefer one at least 6 months old and registered. I have been checking the newspapers. Everytime I see one that fits what I am looking for, I am to late calling. I am willing to trvel to pick him up as long as it isn't too far. I am in the Dallas area.

A few things to keep in mind ..........

1) Dog should already be neutered.
2) Dog should be current on vaccines.
3) Dog should either be on heartworm prevention or test negative within the past 30 days.
4) I would also recommend having the owner (if your going the route of newspaper, etc), sign over the dog to you. Nothing fancy, just something on a piece of paper that states they gave (or sold)the dog to you. Be sure it has their name(s), address, & phone number on it and they actually sign & date the note. If you end up adopting from a rescue group or purchase from a responsible breeder, they will have you sign a contract.

I have a beautiful white male I'm fostering for Lone Star Boxer Rescue in Houston. You can check out Blue and others on their website www.lonestarboxerrescue.com There is also a rescue in Dallas - I'm sorry I don't have that contact info but I'm sure you could find it.

All reputable rescue groups (or shelters), the animals are already spayed/netuered and/or a contract is signed to have it done. (Its generally required by law)

Any reputable breeder will require a spay/neuter on a quality companion puppy also.

Why does the dog have to be neutered?

Neutering is also an effort on the rescues part to keep the unwanted pet population down. They are out there rescuing and re-homing dogs and many come from abusive or neglectful homes. The rescues want to make sure the dogs are going to the best home possible. If you are looking for a dog to breed then going through a rescue or shelter isn't the way to go as all will have them neutered prior to re-homing. Having two boxers is great - I'm sure you'll enjoy them! I can't wait to get Mason a brother or sister...someday!
