Yesterday my one year old collapsed in the back garden. On taking him tothe vet she diagnosed a Vasovegal attack, which she says is very common in Boxers and blamed it on his walking harness. Can anyone shed light on this as I can't find any information on the 'net relating to dogs.....

According to the vet, what about the harness triggered the vasovagal response? What did it "press" on or constrict?

Yes, I'd be concerned as to what caused this effect. Just saying it was related to the harness doesn't really leave you with any especially useful information.

Is this the first time this has happened? Did your vet listen to Marvin's heartbeat? When I hear stories like the one you just posted, I tend to wonder if everything is O.K. with the heart.

I have no advice for you, I just hope your baby is ok! Keep us updated! If I were you I might get a second opinion. Has it happened since, did you take the harness off??

Looking for Help

The Vet ran all kinds of tests ECG blood tests muscular reaction tests. She recommended a Halti collar, she says that most leashes constrict Boxers, especially harnesses and chokers. He seems better now, quiet for a day or 2 but as mad as ever now. Very frightening.

I've had chokers on all of my boxers and I've never had this problem. I've never heard of it, sorry I have no info/help for you.
