Looking for a new food! Grain free, and made in the USA!

We currently feed Merrick Before Grain varieties to our two boxers (they will be 4 and 2 years old in a few months). Our female seems to tolerate the food pretty good, and they both love it in terms of enjoying meal times - however, our younger guy gets pretty bad gas from it. I'd love to find a food that eliminates this issue, while still being grain free and completely made in the USA. Our older girl puts weight on easy, or younger guy is still working on filling out (so he eats a bit more than she does).

I prefer to avoid Diamond Food products, or other major brands manufactured at several different plants (and also with foreign products - we love that Merrick uses ingredients made and farmed in the USA by local farmers).

Or...do I just have to live with some gas? I know boxers can be prone to being gassy and all...but I'd like to try and find a fix! It isn't just the gas - their poop smells horrendous. They poop 20 or 30 feet from the door they go out, and when I let them back in I can smell it immediately! It's grossing me out!

Midwestern Pet Foods was founded in 1926. We are proud of the fact that we manufacture all of our own dry pet food and do not specialty co-pack for any companies. We source all ingredients from US suppliers if ingredients are available, grown or produced in the US. All ingredients in Earthborn Holistic dry pet food are grown or produced in the US except for lamb meal which comes from Australia or New Zealand and flaxseed which comes from Canada. Our vitamin premixes are formulated, sourced and blended in the United States by a US company in a human grade facility. Certain subparts of the vitamin premixes are only available overseas. Our US supplier assures us that they make every effort to source from reputable non-Chinese vendors. All these ingredients are thoroughly tested and undergo many quality checks to insure safety and that specifications are meet. But even with these checks in place, it is difficult if not impossible to say that some subpart of some vitamin ingredient may originate in China. We feel that it is unethical to claim, like some manufacturers do, that even though our vitamins and minerals are formulated, sourced and blended by a US company in the United States that there could not be a trace or subpart of a vitamin that comes from China. We at Earthborn Pet Foods strive to provide correct, truthful information.

You can be sure your pet is safe with Earthborn Holistic. Our ingredients are tested when they are delivered. We test for toxins (vomitoxin, aflatoxin, fumitoxin). We check peroxide value and for free fatty acids in the fat. We also test for salmonella. We check for water activity to prevent mold. Samples are sent to an independent lab if there are any questions on a test result. Our suppliers also run a multitude of tests depending on the ingredient including testing for melatonine. So ingredients are tested by the manufacturer; ingredients are tested by us upon delivery; our pet food is tested before being packaged and shipped.

Our facilities are inspected multiple times per year by USDA APHIS. The facility where Earthborn Holistic® is manufactured is approved for sales to the European Union, Russia, Israel, Australia, and many more all of which have strict regulations. We are HAACA approved and FDA inspected.

We have never had a recall.

Personally, I unfortunately had to switch the dogs back to TOTW, Happy developed allergies recently and I want to rule out anything food related.

Take a look at this one: Hi-Tek Naturals Grain Free Dog Food | Review and Rating. It rates 5 stars on Dog Food Advisor, and it's made in Georgia. It's also very budget friendly.

Family-owned company, food is made in its own plant in Wisconsin, all ingredients sourced in the US.

Pure Vita is manufactured in its own plant in Minnesota and I know -most- of their ingredients are locally sourced, but I can't say for sure that all of their ingredients are.

How about Canadian foods? Acana is awesome awesome awesome and their ingredients are all locally sourced, as well.

Thanks for the replies! I went with earthborn right now - we'll give it a try and see, although one of my guys doesn't seem like she's a fan already! It was the best priced of the few on my list...if not this, perhaps I'll splurge on Acana. Thanks again!
