I personally would like to warn you against getting a pup as a Christmas gift. Most reputable breeders will not whelp litters around Christmas or adopt a dog out as a gift. This is a huge commitment that needs to be taken on by the owner. Rescues also require the dog be adopted by the person who is going to own the dog to require that the dog is going to a "forever" home. Your best bet is to give a "gift certificate" instead of a dog and allow the new owner to have "pick" their new addition.
