Any suggestions...Poor Lulu. She wears a seatbelt harnass in the car and has no problem with it.Always gets excited when I bring it. The other night I went to my parents got out of the car , tripped and I fell into the open car door and broke my nose!! Thats not all, a couple of hours later we went to leave, I put Lulu in her harnass in the back seat. I pulled out of the driveway and heard this loud wierd noise, I pulled forward and it was really loud , like the transmission fell out..I put the car in park, went to get lulu out of the back, figuring I had to call AAA. She was up against the door and her harnass was unsnapped (one snap), her leash was gone!!! The metal ring had actually broken, her leash was wrapped in the wheel !!! She was shaking so hard, but never made a sound..I was horrified. I didn't cry over the pain the my nose, but cried about LULU...I cuddled her, she did not seem hurt. don't know how.
I felt so horrible..What an idiot, I should never have left her leash attached to harnass!! Anyway, as you can imagine, trying to get her into the car now is difficult. She plants her feet firm and starts to shake..I eventually get her in but she has been mentally damaged..Any suggestions to make this easier for her (and me)...Thanks so much

Yikes, it is no wonder she is afraid now. Poor girl. I would start out slow, don't force her and make it worthwhile to her. Get a tasty treat she loves an coax her with that, eventually making your way into the car. Take baby steps and eventually she will come around. Also, start putting her on the other side of the car instead of where you would normally put her. If she starts shaking or whining don't comfort her ( I know it is hard) because that is just teaching her it is ok to be afraid.

Oh boy. Thank god she is ok. What scare that was. Don't be to hard on yourself accidents happen. I agree with everyone. Just take is slowly and don't reward her behavior if she starts whinning. Putting her on the other side of the car sounds like a great idea. :)
