Hi to all,

I just wonder if I crate my puppy over 10 hours per day, are that any negative effects on her when she is adult later? My Candy is now 3 months old and the main reason I crate her is that to avoid any destructive incidents because she is now in her teething period. I hope to free her from her crate when the period is over. Also, there is safety reason. Any advices? thank you.

10 hours total? My dogs are in the crate at least 8 hours a day (with a lunch break) and many times sleep in the crate at night. They are wonderful dogs, very socialized, very happy and well trained.

It not the amount of kenneling but how you do it and how you interact outside the crate that really counts. As a puppy they should be crated unless you are able to watch them and work with them at all times. The crate is perfect for controlling unwanted behaviors...if they never learn to chew as puppies they wont as adults.
