We are in the middle of a drought here in AZ and the locusts have arrived in full force. Since the gross little buggers just sit on the trees and bushes Molly has found them to be easy pray for snacking. I have been trying with not much luck to stop her from eating them but I am failing miserably, there are just too many. Should I be concerned with the occasional locust snack or should I let it go and not worry??

I don't believe that there is any harm in Molly eating locusts. It just adds a little variety to the diet. :)

Insects are supposed to be very healthy food, with a lot of protein but very few fat!:D

You know, in nature, insects are part of canine and feline diet, so I guess it's not dangerous for him!:p

The locusts here in southern Virginia have just left thank goodness! The local newspaper did a story about how cats
and dogs thought that they were a delicacy. There was even
mention of some people liking them! Well I can tell you that I
won't be trying them, but the cats and dogs sure do seem to love them. Makes you think twice about those big slobbery wet
boxer kisses after a locust snack!!

Locusts..... high in fiber & makes the coat shiney! :)

Someone could probably make some $ marketing them as a dog treat, only no one would want to handle them.

One of my kids decided he likes a green tomatoe every now & then. He should know better, here in the south, we like 'em fried with hot sauce. Came home yesterday to a partially eaten mater on the back porch. When I went to pick it up, Kobi came over like "hey that's mine".

Just thought I would add that little tid bit. Variety is the spice of life. :)
