I spoke with a local pet food dealer (all high brand natural foods) and she had a boxer that had the same issue as my 5 month old female with the very runny loose stools and she said she baked a baked potato and chopped it up and to entice her she put a little bit of butter so she would eat it and after a while of eating the baked potato by itself then mixed in with her food she loose runny stools went away for good and then she just fed her normal after that!

Anyone ever tried this before or have any experience with this possible runny stool solution?

Thanks for the help. :)

Never tried baked potato before. Not liking the part about putting butter on it!? But my guy has had pancreatitis before, so alot of fat is out of his diet. I have used pure pumpkin for loose stool. The 100% pure that you find in a can in the baking aisle of the grocery store. My guy is 75# and gets a tablespoon once or twice a day, depending on how bad his stool is. Within one to two days his stool firms up. Be careful though.......too much will cause the opposite affect :( Good luck!

Yeah I use psyllium by Yerba Prima brand. 1 tsp twice a day (sprinkled on top of their food) and it works for my girl who gets constipated from meds and my boy who has soft stools from colitis. I personally wouldn't be using potatoes all the time and definitely not with butter.

I've never dealt with this problem myself, but I know my mother-in-law has always given her dogs hamburger and rice when they get the runs. I myself am always really hesitant to give Willie people-food because I never know how his belly might react. Good luck!
