It is hard to believe that no charges will be filed. If the security guard had been just a regular Joe, then charges would have been filed for animal cruelty. My heart goes out to the family that lost a beloved pet because of the ignorance of one man.

I am almost in tears here at work. How horrible that poor family must feel. My heart breaks for them. I do hope that the so called security officerget what is comming to him. If he can mistkae a urinating dogt for a viciouse one, who is to say, that an innocent person will not be next. I say we all e-mail the guy who did the storey, and compain that this guy should get what is comming to him. :( Arrg, I am so mad. Rest in peace sweet baby girl.

I find it amazing that no part of this article mentions what lead the security officer to really draw his weapon. I have several family members within the NJ State Police and in several cases they had to mace animals in certian situations and ONLY DISCHARGED A WEAPON ON A WOUNDED ANIMAL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, which is policy. The guy that was with Socks is lucky to be alive. To fire several shots from a hand gun and to hit the dog twice obvisouly he was close enough to see what the dog was doing.
Seems to be more to this story then what we are reading.

This is very sad, but it all could have been avoided if the dog was on a leash.

It was not on a leash because it was able to run back into the house after it was shot. I wonder how close the friend was to the dog, if there was a building there the person could have been blocked from view yet close enough to get blood on his pants.

Forget karma, I think that this guy should be SUED and I mean have the PANTS sued off him as well as the security company. THis is WRONG. If it had been him that got shot well that would be a different thing right. Here Security isnt allowed to carry guns and it is for this reason. Power hungry rentacops with no sense who shoot first and ask later.

I am in tears reading this post. What if that was a child that was in the bushes and he thought it was an animal and he shot the child. This rent a cop should be fired and the owner of socks should sue the pants off of him...Godspeed sweet .
