Liver Shunt - Long

First off, Kiele (62lb Flashy Fawn) has been eating RAW for about three months now and we all have been very happy. Her ears have cleared up tenfold and her bowel movements are now solid, small and not smelly at all. She still has some redness around her paws, but that might be a grass and dirt issue. She's not quite as hyper, but we attribute that to either her finally maturing a little (at 3 years old) or the lower sugar content in her food. She still has her riled up moments though.

Anyway, she had blood work down for her yearly vet appt. and they called with a concern. One of the levels (not sure which) that would be high at around 100, came back around 800. They suspect it might be a liver shunt. They want to do a bile test (?) were they fast her, test her, feed her, test her two hours later. After looking up liver shunts, I think this is congenital and not associated with my RAW feeding. Am I correct?

The vet said she looked great, had a great temperament and looked healthy, so we actually never got around to the RAW feeding discussion (much to the dismay of my spouse.) So, now I feel like a kid that got caught with my hand in the cookie jar. If I call the vet and tell her that I feed RAW, would this justify the elevated levels? I even think she had a beef liver or kidneys for breakfast that morning and her appt was at 10am.

Also, if it is a shunt, the recommended diets are low protein. Where does that leave me in my new happy RAW life?

Any help is appreciated.

Scotch and Kiele.
