Back in October/November 2004, Jasmine was having head tremors (do a search and you can see other posts). Basically, we first took her to the emergency clinic because the first time it happened it was Halloween night about 10:30pm. They looked at her and sent her home with instructions to take her to our regular vet. The morning before taking her to the vet she had another head tremor episode and I captured it on video. I took her to the vet's office that day with video in hand. He looked at it, did a blood panel and said if she has another one call him immediately and gave me his cell number (I'm freaking out). To make a long story short the next week she went to see the neurologist. He said head tremors are common in Doberman's, but they apparently the vets are starting to see them in the Boxer breed. He said they don't hurt them and that they could actually grow out of them. He also said there isn't anything they can do for them either. Since that time I am not as freaked out anymore. She still has them every now and then.

I too have the smell problem. We adopted our second March 04 and both get baths monthly. But after much thought I realized that it has only been noticable the last 2 months or so. I have deducted that the reason for this (in FLORIDA anyway) is that during the summer the Air Conditioning unit is acting as our clean air filter and takes almost all of the smell out of the air. I use the oil plug in air freshners and during the summer the house smelled nice and fresh, well I have even added another plug in and since the air has been off it smells like the two dogs. It doesn't help when they eat tuna in their kibble and have fishy breath either. I'm going to have to look into a portable air filter unit for the winter months I guess. Our zoo only consists of 2 skinkids, 2 furkids and 1 beta fish, so I was hoping we could keep it smelling like some sort of flower garden. Oh well, I'm glad we have no side effects from breathing doggie smell, that is accept the smiles on our faces from knowing the furkids are in the house.

Thank you all for your advice on this matter, I think I'm going to have to stock up on air fresheners and invest in air filters. Here in Miami we keep the AC on all day, everyday, but the smell is still here. :(
Actually today is bath day for Rocky and as usual he is hiding out and dodging me :rolleyes: I change their sheets weekly and wash their toys and such every two weeks but still it remains. Hopefully the remedies that have been suggested here will help

I find that the only thing that really works at our house is to open the windows for a good airing out. That is kind of difficult in -40 weather (although I suspect you have the opposite problem in Miami!!). I too use febreeze and vaccuum etc. but nothing works as well as just getting all the funky air out of the house.

This is going to sound really strange...but I gently boil and tablespoon or two of apple cider vinegar with a little water on the stove for a few minutes. At first as you can imagine the smell is a little over powering...but after a few minutes the whole house smells fresh and clean. Works wonders on the heavy smell of fried foods too.

doggie smell

I glad to hear that I'm not the only one with the house that smells like doggies! Ever since we brought home Minnie (now 12 weeks) it's a lot more noticeable that we have 2 dogs. They play and wrestle in the living room and I never thought about it but I be that's why. My biggest problem though is that they both have GAS! It's too much to bear sometimes. I know not to change their diet and they don't eat table scraps. Harley has always had a sensitive stomach. Does anyone have any suggestions on the doggie toots?

We had the smell problem too. We bought from Sams ( I cannot remember the name of it) this floor and carpet cleaner ( it can also be mixed into an air freshener that it supposed to take the pet smell out. When we got our puppy he peed on our tile floors a lot and this helped. I will try to remember the name of it. It was pricey like $20.00 a bottle but it works.
