When your boys go out to do thier business do they lift their leg or do they just do the Stretch?

Don't get me wrong. I am pleased as can be that Brutus just stretches to do his thing but I am starting to take a great deal of abuse from the males in my life. Friends and family alike are all insisting I have turned him into a girl. (Just because he has a jacket doesn't make him a girl!!)

Is this normal?

If you mean by "stretches" that he walks past a tree, and sort of leans his belly towards it, and lifts his back leg out in a yoga-type stretch... then that is what my boy does. He's always at least 5 inches off from whatever he's aiming at.
You might mean the stretch where all 4's are still on the ground... and yes, my boy used to do that before he took up yoga.

Hammer stretches so far. He basically just leans forward and stretches his back legs out so he doesn't pee on them. I wouldn't call it squatting, Ginger does that and there is a definate difference.

I think it looks much more refined than hiking a leg! :p

Sly used to do the squat stretch thing until he hit about 11 months. That is when we figured he was trying to be a man. He is now a year and a 6 days old and he still has problems with the balance. But he is getting the hang of it. Funny thing is that now that he has started lifting his leg on walks, our pug has been used as a tree 2 times now and our pug hates baths.

Stretch - Yes. All four feet on the ground , his back legs out behind and leaning forward.

Sorry I should have clarified.

Zander does both. I guess it just depends on his mood at the time. He'll usually squats when he sees that I'm about to make him come in the house because he's just goofing off outside. The second he sees me open the door, he squats instantly wherever he's at.

Austin is a definate lifter. There are brown marks the same height on all my bushes in the back yard~at the same height as he lifts his leg!

Apollo still stretches at almost 10 months. He was trying to lift his leg once a month or so ago when I came home while he was mid-pee. The sound of the garage door opening distracted him and he's never tried it since then.

Strech

Marley is 6 months old and still streches, well, not really even streches, he just stands there and lets loose. Most of the time I can't even tell that he's peeing unless I see the stream! I rather it stay this way, too! I don't need him killing my grass and my plants, bushes and trees nonoicon
