Hi All...bringing my little boy Brewster home tomorrow and had a question about food for him. I am planning on keeping him on the food the breeder is currently feeding him (brandon farms naturals puppy) until he gets adjusted to his new home (for a week or so). I would keep him on it, but it is not available in my area. I have seen many posts on the site about life stages food...could someone give me a list of brands that produced these foods? I really think it's something to look into...otherwise, I was planning on feeding him something along the lines of kirkland's or possibly a premium food like royal canin or blue buffalo. any thoughts??? thanks everyone! :)

Just to clear something up, Royal Canin is not a premium food, in fact it's a very low quality food with a premium price tag.

Blue Buffalo is a good food, Kirkland's is okay. If you can afford something higher quality than Kirkland's I would encourage you to upgrade, however if you are on a tight budget, then I would recommend Kirkland as it is the best food in it's price range.

I agree to check out the Dog food analysis site, you want to be feeding preferably a 4, 5, or 6 star food.

Oh and some brands that are all life stages is Wellness Super 5 Mix, Canidae, Natural Balance, Taste of the Wild, those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Good luck and congrats!

I have been feeding my 4 month old Innova Puppy food and am very pleased with it. He was on Orijen puppy and it made his stool runny. He gets a raw patty in the morning and the Innova for dinner. I would go through the threads on here in the feeding catagory. TONS of good info on there. There are a couple of topics regarding proper protein amounts for puppys that helped me out alot! Give it a look

Excellent choices. We've raised several of ours on Innova and raw (Nature's Variety patties). As adults, they eat a couple of varieties of EVO.

Orijen is another food we've tried that really good... just pricey.

Wellness is my favorite. I tried many diferent foods when Abbie was a puppy. The dog food analysis web site helped me out alot. Once I tried Welness there was no going back. I started Abbie on Welness for puppy and she loved it. I now feed her the Wellness Super 5 mix and it is all life stages. One thing that I really like about it is that it has several different flavors so I can give my girl variety without upsetting her stomach.
