licks the bar of soap?!!

Hi, Taz, my big boy, is a big n fit 2 yearold. I've had him for the past 8 months. I consider him as pretty well house trained , since I havent trainned him from pup. But recently, he's been picking up these weird habits, he started licking the bar of soap in the bath tub, and he seems to like it!! How can I stop this, other than putting the soap out of reach?? I don't want to have to put everything 4' from the ground... Also he's been eating my plants, but most of them make him sick, he vomits within 1 hour. When I see him do it, I obviously tell him not to but still as soon as my back is turned....

Lots of Boxers like soap. Don't know why, but they do. You'll have to put it up As for the plants, be sure they aren't plants that are poisonous to dogs.

Have you worked on teaching "leave it"? It's a great command to get your dogs to leave things alone.

soap is one of Blizzy's favorite

"snack foods". She goes crazy when I give her a bath..she knows right where the bar soap is and is insistant that she's going to eat it. She also eats the bubbles that end up in tub when bathing her. While giving my 3 yr old a bath, I have to "fight" Blizzy out of the way, she tries to lick/eat the bubbles off my daughters head..

She also LOVES any kind of paper product. Offer her a steak (a big no no in my house) or a few napkins..guess which she'll go after...

Its funny all these years I thought my dog was the only one with these weird habits/quirks..but after reading this forum I realize almost all of the gorgeous Boxers are well..just plain nuts..

All three of mine love soap. Specifically Dove soap. Austin my youngest loves to eat my plants. Especially my produce plants. Bell peppers, pomegranates, and he love tomatoes! It’s kind of funny, but bitter apple spray on the plant works on the ones that I really want him to stay out of.
