I think my puppy got leptospirosis. She hasn't had her vaccine for this desease yet. When I asked my aunt's vet if she can play with her dogs he said its ok, even though she hasn't had all vaccines yet. Now she got some fever I think, has no energy, is drinking a lot of water, and got an ulcer on her lower lip. I will definately take her to the vet first thing in the morning, but I am really scared to loose her now. Has anybody encountered this disease and could tell me more about it?

Do you live in an area where dogs are at high risk of lepto? It is not a "core" vaccine, partly because the risk is variable, protection is limited (there are many strains of Lepto, but the vaccine only protects against one or two) - and many dogs have severe reactions to the vaccine (i.e. it is only worth the risk of giving the vacination if the dog is at high risk of otherwise contracting the disease).
Lepto isn't that common - but I believe that with a search of the forums, you would find a few threads about it.

My vet said that she should get lepto vaccine as there were some cases around. This morning she seems perfectly fine, is playing, eating, all active. Just still has the sore on her lip, so I don't know if I should worry about her. I am not sure maybe I messed up with her food too much. I was trying to go to home cooked diet, and vet discourage me so much. So I got a few samples of better organic dry food, and I gave her some raw meet as well. I read that raw is the best diet ,so I kinna want to do that, but I am just affraid now. And we left her alone for a few hours yesterday, so maybe thats why she got upset and sick?
