Boxer Pal
Hi ok Ive been reading the post in Boxers and Children. I do have a 3 year old a 15 month old. Now I know Pugs and Boxers are different breeds but when we were training our Pug when she just a puppy my kids did very well. I always had my eyes on all 3 of them. We did the crate training and will do with our Boxer Puppy. When our Pug did the nipping and biting at the toes we would just say "Ouch" in a loud stearn voice and then ignore her for a bit. And it hurt. So I was hoping to use that same trainging with our boxer. ?? I wont allow my kids to carry her around. We will do puppy classes too. I would think all puppys nip at the toes and everywhere else. I JUST WANT TO DO EVERYTHING RIGHT AND i HAVE A MONTH TO KEEP READING. When we had our Pug I had bought the book Pugs for Dummies so I plan to but Boxers for Dummies as well. Im glad for this site and I will keep reading and learning as much as I can !!

I think you're definately on the right track, your head is really in this. You also sound determined enough to make this work! I don't know anything about pugs so I'm not sure what their intelligence level is, but Boxers are incredibly smart which can lead to them sometimes being stubborn. As long as you're firm and willing to work at it then I'm sure your new family member will fit in just fine.

We just got another puppy and we have a 1 year old son and as expected, Porter was nipping at Cole's (skin baby) little toes and ears. We yelled "no bite" only a couple of times and he stopped nipping at Cole. He would also see Cole cry and get upset. Boxers as so intelligent and love to please. I am pretty sure your boxer baby will pick it up very quickly. Now Porter and Cole have taken to licking each other and have got their own relationship all worked out. You will be amazed when you see how smart boxers are.
