Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their female boxer leaking urine from her private area. I have a 9 month old female named Lileigh, she has been spayed. Its not that she is leaking massive amounts, its a little bigger than a fifty cent piece. Also its only after you let her outside, it seems that she doesnt clear her bladder all the way. When I bring her back in she drips when she is walking, or if she comes in and lays down she drips a small puddle. Thanks for the input.

If this came on after her spay AND she is healthy otherwise it might be a bit of spay incontinence.
Have you spoken to the vet about it?

I had her checked for UTI, all results came back ok. Although I am also in the process of switching vets and she will be looked at again.

How long is it since she was spayed, and how long has the problem been going on?

She was spayed in early December, and I noticed the leaking in late Feb, early March. It doesnt seem like its bothering her at all, but the urine drops all over the floor seem to be annoying my wife just a little.

OK :)
REason I asked was because during spay surgeries, all the internal organs take a heck of a beating (bladder included) as they pushed and clamped aside to allow the surgeon to get at the uterus, etc. Lots of bitches have some trouble controlling their bladders immediately (for a week or two) after spay surgery.

But, since your girl was spayed several months ago now, that's unlikely to be the problem. Not sure that it will end up being any form of spay incontinence - since it started a good couple of months afterward.

Best bet, I think, is letting a vet take a look.

Lola, our 8 month old female boxer has always had a little bit of "something" left over whenever we take her outside. Its been there since day 1, the vet said it was nothing abnormal. I just refer to it as her lightbulb due to the yellowish color it has. I dunno if that is anything similar to your issue. Its usually too thick to drip off so she normally cleans herself when she gets back inside. I know it sounds gross but.........

I would speak to the vet because

it could be spay incontinence or kidney issues...I've dealt with both. Currently, my 10 yr old has been on DES for spay incontinence for years, and it is completely managed w/ meds.
