Leaf Eater...

So now that the fall is here and the leaves are falling and making "crinkling" noises as the wind blows them around, Aspen is having a ball chasing and pouncing on them. Its cute and all, but she then tries to eat them. I dont want to stop her fun, but I also dont want her eating the leaves....Are they bad to digest? I know they cant be good, and I've managed to grab them out of her mouth before she can swallow, but i'm worried when she is allowed to run around not on the leash. Anybody else have this problem and any suggestions on how to allow her to play with but not eat the leaves?

I'm no expert on this subject. But SuzyQ loves to eat grass, she chases leaves and I'm sure she has ingested some, when we were shucking corn she was stealing the husks and playing with them and eating some too. Unless they upset her stomach or she has a delicate tummy, I don't imagine a few leaves will hurt her. They have never bothered SuzyQ. Most normal leaves that fall won't be poisonous or anything like that. I can't imagine how you would keep her out of them if you have many trees in your yard.

I had to laugh at the cute thought of Aspen chasing and "killing" the leaves, then gobbling them up. Too cute, although I know you're concerned, my bet is that she wouldn't eat too much for it to be any concern. She's having more fun playing with them (like a toy) than anything else.

That boxer move is lovingly known as jackhammering. That is one boxer trait Balboa doesn't have, but many on here do.

Tyson has always enjoyed chasing leaves since he came to live with us. He also "jackhammers" anything he can. The last 2 days he has been killing his pillow. I hope he never stops doing that. It is so fun to watch. Wish my video camera battery was charged. Guess I need to keep it charged up with him around!!!!

Oh yes, your Aspen isn't the only one enjoying the fall weather! Hurricane LOVES to chase leaves (and bugs) and I am sure he has eaten his share. His favoriate game of all is to sneak leaves and twigs in the house when I am not looking and then chew them into tiny pieces and leave them all over my floor! I swear I can never catch him bringing them in... I wonder if he has a stash under the couch?

seems like she ate a pine needle that came out the other end whole....but was hanging half out! HAHA, it was funny, she waddled over to the cement promptly dragged her little hiney so get it off.

Nice to see this thread, I was just wondering the same thing this morning...Sasha discovered leaves, grass and daisies! She doesn't EAT them, just likes tearing them up in her mouth...I think she was trying to help my husband mow the lawn haha!
