Laying under things

I have noticed that Sullivan seems to always want to lay "under" things. He will lay on the floor then crawl under the coffee table and stay there, he lays on the floor then crawls under the futon (completely under it), he tries to get under the bed, he lays under your legs if you lay with them on the ottoman. He just loves being "under" stuff, its the weirdest thing.. does anyone else's boxer do this? It seems strange to me, but I decided to put an old sheet over his crate and he likes it much better like that I think because he is "under" it so to speak.

Just wanted to know if this is normal or a really weird thing unique to sully!

My pup spends about half his time under my bed. I always look under to see what he is doing and he is just laying there looking around watching. I think he feels safe under there. If he gets into something he runs under there real fast so he can chew it up or eat it. I see him make a quick beeline for the bedroom I know he has something.

Gus used to crawl under the beds until he got too big...it was so sad when he realized that he couldn't anymore. He looked at me with his big brown eyes and seemed to ask, "Why did you shrink the bed mom? You know I loved it under there!" He now likes to ly under the dining room table and the coffee tables :) I read that the desire to do these types of things (and why they like blankets on their crates) is because they are denning animals and would be sleeping in their dens if they were in the wild.

Dogs are den animals. They feel secure when they are under things. Thats why most dogs are happy when in the crate. They are usually even happier when you cover it with something, as it make it more den like. :)

Every time we go to the dog park Capone lays under the picinic table. At home though, he prefers to lay on top of the kitchen table. He is such a nut case. foolicon Of course, he never does it when I am home, only when I am not. I don't think he knows I can see him in the window when I pull up.

Yep - Greta *LOVES* to be under things. She loves her crate, which is like her den, so I think she associates being under things as being in her den. I catch her doing it most when we're somewhere other than home (where her crate is kept).

For the longest time, I always assumed she thought she was in trouble. But now I know she just likes being under there & secure. :)

Poor Logan is running out of things to fit under. The big stuff doesn't qualify as under yet. He's only 4 and a half months. My springer used to be in heaven at Christmas, he got to go camping in the winter in the house. That must be why trees were in the house. I am not looking forward to this Christmas, I can tell you! I'm having nightmares already.
