Muffin's Mom
Boxer Pal
I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this.
About 7 months ago in May (when she was almost a year old) our boxer began vomiting up everything she ate. She would wake up in the middle of the night, ususally around 3am and do the heaving thing and then vomit up whatever it was she had eaten that day...she was even vomiting up rice. We took her to the vet and they ruled out all sorts of things. They put her on some pepcid and another med which was supposed to help initiate normal digestion and they put her on a low residue food (dry & wet) and she seemed to get better. We went back to feeding her three times a day and ended up switching her back to a normal food.
The vomiting started up again in July and we went through the same routine but kept her on the low residue food for much longer (the vet suggested 6mths to a year). She seemed to be doing fine, but wasn't putting back on any of the weight she had lost (both episodes lasted about a week - a long time to go without food...either vomiting it up or waiting for her stomach to settle). So, we SLOWLY switched her to Neutro Natural Lamb & Rice and she put the weight back on and was doing great.
Monday she vomited up some foamy yellow bile, so I didn't feed her in the morning, but she seemed ok when I got home, so I gave her dinner. Everything seemed fine until she woke up this morning at 3am and vomited up part of her dinner. Around 8am when we were outside she vomited up more foamy yellow bile (no breakfast today).
The vet keeps trying to tell me that Boxer's are known for sensitive stomachs, but I've only seen one or two other posting that really sounded similar, so I have a hard time believing that this is common.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
