Large bulge under the skin

Sirrina had an unfortunate accident requiring stitches on the
inside portion of her lower left hind leg. The site of the injury
is almost all skin & bone. After initial examination I thought I
could actually see the bone. After a trip to have it stitched up
and several days of monitoring the injury it is still bulging.
My concern is that it may look that way when healed ?
or may scar noticably ( white fur ). The wound itself seems
ok, could it still be swollen almost a week after the fact ?
Has anyone had similar experiences that concluded without
disfigurement ? We see the vet next Tuesday for stitch removal
and I will ask questions of course. Full of anxiety at this point.

how does the wound look? red, oozy? does it hurt to the touch? she could have an infection in the wound. the stitches should lay flat. unless it was a bad wound then swelling would be there.
or it could be clot of some kind. this happens in males (Ive noticed) after neutering. some times there is a small blood clot/abcess that gets in there. Is she biting at it?
I would call and ask the vet to be on the safe side. if you dont like the way it looks, dont wait.

The wound seems ok

Jazmin333,

Thanks for the reply. The wound area looks ok to me. It's dry
& pinkish in color, the stitches are standing however. Sirrina
is not preoccupied with the injury site except an occasional
lick which I strongly discourage her from doing. The doctor
said at the time she examined Sirrina that the bone was
abraded.... I beleive that means scraped. This could, now that
I think about it, account for the bulge. We have Sirrina on
antibiotics that the vet gave us as well.
Again thanks!!

The only info I have is how Bru's scars have healed. AS a puppy he had a growth on his front paw which we had to remove. The scar healed really well and there is only a small area without any fur it is not something you notice unless you really look closely at his leg.

Brutus and Amaya's Mom,

Thank you for the info. I am probably a litte obsessive
considering that I have no plans at this time to show Sirrina.
On the other hand, like other Boxer owners, I show her every
time we go anywhere. If I'am by myself....well then I have
pictures:D Anyway we are keeping a close watch for
anything afore mentioned. My regular vet said that it is
most likely scar tissue under the skin and will subside.
Thanks again.
