Large Boxer

Just wondering if there is a size limit on showing your dog?
Do they have to be the standard Boxer to show? So many people have asked if we are going to show Reilly, (not really thought about it), but he is a big boy, 26 inches at the shoulders and 81 pounds, he's not fat atall, just big.

There isn't a size limit as such - there is simply a breed standard. And anything about an individual (other than those faults considered so serious as to eliminate the dog - such as disallowed colours) that doesn't match the standard, or blueprint, is a deviation or a fault.

In the US, the standard allows for a dog to be up to 25.5" tall. 26" is thus technically a deviation - but it is a small deviation (and in fact, may not even be noticed). If it is noticed, it would be punished to a degree in line with the extent of deviation - that is, small Bear in mind that there is no dog yet born that doesn't deviate to some degree from the standard.

The AKC standard says:

Adult males 23 to 25 inches; females 21½ to 23½ inches at the withers. Proper balance and quality in the individual should be of primary importance since there is no size disqualification.

However, in the AKC ring, Boxers being a bit over sized is quite common so as gmacleod said, 26" may not even be noticed.
