I know some of you know Krose from before.
It all happened almost one year ago. Krose started limping. At first we thought he hit somewhere which is the case most of the time. But when it continued to do so, we went to the vet. He took an x-ray and immediately found out that it was hip displacement in his right hip. We quickly started on glycosamine and the pain killers. The vet said there was also an operation but since he is 9 years old, it was up to us.
Has anyone had this operation? I fear itis painful. I'm not for it.
Do I need to do anything else? He seems to be in cheerful mood everyday thank God:) But I want to know if there is anything else that I can do. The vets here are a bit lost here with hip displacement. Thanks everyone!

If the surgery your talking about is called a femoral head osteotomy, my dog had one at 2 years old and changed his life for the better. Healing time was not bad because you have to have them start using the leg almost immediatley. It def helps releve the pain caused by the displacement because they disassemble the joint by cutting off the femurs head. Now 4 years later my guy out runs the neighbors 3 year german shep.

wow! well, they told me that he had to have wheels for a few weeks because he shouldn't stand on his foot. hmm.. maybe I should ask the vet the name of the procedure. because that doesn't sound bad at all. thanks a lot:)
